Progression of Gestural User Interface

A visual tour of the gestural interface progression January 2012-May2012.
This tour will take you from Initial research and groupings until the high fidelity mockup used in our final interface.

Click read more below to watch how the transformation happened in pictures...

After initial research of the environment the gestural interface was broken down into five initial areas that needed further research and development.
After we learned more about the environment we brainstormed our ideas and did whiteboard work to flesh out our ideas of how a gestural interface may work in our environment. The images following are the first steps to wireframes following the initial research and development.

After our initial work with the the content and how it would convey the information in the environment we delve further into the world of current gestural trends concerning accepted gestures, interactions and researched products currently on the market.

After research of the current gestural trends we focused on the interactions of our research findings. We settled on filling a circle while your hand hovers over on object. This interaction allows the user to have feedback on his current state and the direction he or she is going. We proceeded to mock this up in wireframes to ensure the interactions made sense and linked together.

After developing the wireframes and coming to a conclusion on the interactions of the device we developed a high fidelity mockup to build our working prototype with.
